The Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration has set up a class schedule for trucks based on their weight class using gross vehicle weight rating. The first class is from zero to 6,000 pounds and includes consumer favorites such as the Toyota Tacoma and the GMC Sonoma. The class two trucks weight in from 6,001 to 10,000 pounds and include mid level trucks such as the Nissan Titan and the Ford-250. The third class compares trucks between 10,001 and 14,000 pounds and exhibits popular trucks like the dual-rear wheel Ford-350 and the GMC Sierra 3500. These are the models of typical consumer trucks, although the class structure goes up to class eight, or all trucks over 33,000 pounds. Classes 1-2 are considered lightweight, classes 3-6 are considered medium weight, and classes 7-8 are considered heavy weight trucks. Both of the heavyweight truck classes require commercial driver’s licenses to operate in the United States of America.

However, the practice of longer than three is exceedingly common in Australia where all the current records have be created and consequently beaten. The longest truck train ever recorded by achieved by John Atkinson in a Mack Titan in 2006. Atkinson pulled 112 trailers weighing in at 2,865,980 pounds measuring 4,836 ft in length 328 feet, or 100 meters, to set the record for the largest train pulled. The act took place in a small town of Clifton in the state of Queensland, Australia with a population of just over 1000. 1,432 tons moved 100 meters by one truck. More commonly, road trains are fuel or gas tankers sent to refuel gas stations, or other supplies.
